StayCapital’s first hotel development — a four-star lifestyle hotel with 78 keys, a restaurant, a rooftop and a gym in central Rabat — is scheduled to open in the second half of 2027.
StayHere signed a development portfolio in Essaouira — two riads and 38 rooms — inaugurating StayHere Riads, a line dedicated to Morocco’s historic medinas.
In a two-page interview in L’Opinion, the co-founders set out the group’s footprint — 10 addresses, more than 300 suites, over 100 collaborators, more than 10,000 verified reviews — and announced the next phase: Essaouira within weeks, Marrakech before the end of the year, a reinforced Rabat, and new brands in Fès and Tanger in 2027.
StayHere deployed the first self check-in kiosk developed for the Moroccan market: guests complete arrival online before they travel, and check in on site in about a minute, with rates adjusting to demand in real time. The group counts around 100 collaborators.
After a costly experience with a property partner in Tanger, StayHere exited the city and spent the year consolidating: tightening the portfolio around Rabat, Casablanca and Agadir and rebuilding its operating base. The group entered 2026 smaller — and stronger.
The group closed 2024 with revenue above 40 million dirhams.
At the Immotech salon in Casablanca (25–26 September 2024), StayHere unveiled its new brand identity. The group then operated 15 residences and more than 500 suites across Tanger, Rabat, Casablanca and Agadir, with a team of around 200.
Mohammed Lachgar became a member and the treasurer of the Regional Tourism Council of Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (Visit Rabat), taking part in the region’s tourism strategy, its partnerships and its promotion.
Mohammed Lachgar co-founded StayCapital with Mohamed Benzakour, Yacine El Jamali and Hicham Maaninou. The company was incorporated in late December 2023, and the team built its operations through 2024: a hospitality real-estate investment platform that structures institutional-grade vehicles and develops hotels and apart-hotels in Morocco’s major cities. His role: Partner, Growth & Technology.
At the 4th edition of the CNT’s Travel Tech Morocco, held at Université Euromed in Fès, Mohammed Lachgar presented the innovation in StayHere’s business model and offer.
In the summer of 2023 StayHere opened in Agadir with Marina Residential Living.
StayHere opened its CIL address in Casablanca, designed around art, contemporary interiors and shared spaces meant to create a creative community of residents.
StayHere opened its first Casablanca address. By late January the group was present in three Moroccan cities, operating more than 200 apartments, penthouses and studios with a team of over 30 — and already eyeing Tanger and Marrakech.
A year after launch, the three suites had become thirty.
With the hotel industry at a standstill, Mohammed Lachgar and Mohamed Benzakour founded StayHere in Rabat: three suites — no hotel, no debt, no experience of the sector. Their starting intuition: Morocco’s problem was not a lack of travellers, it was the product on offer.
After a 2016 realisation while travelling — visitors were coming to Morocco, and the stay infrastructure he enjoyed across Asia didn’t exist at home — Mohammed Lachgar bought his first apartment in Rabat in 2017, furnished it and put it on the market as a short-term rental. One unit became two, then three; by early 2020 he was managing seven in Rabat.
At sixteen, from Tiflet, Mohammed Lachgar built his first online business: websites monetised with Google AdSense and Facebook communities that grew past ten million fans, serving a mostly French audience. The income later financed his studies and housing in Rabat.
